Kogo - small container for Kô 香
For the scent ( Kô 香 ) different material is used, depending upon Ro or Furo. In summer, small leaves of fragrant woods are laid on the fire (e.g. Byakudan, sandalwood). These woods are stored in a Kôgo Furo, a small container made of lacquer. The Kôgo in winter, which is difficult to burn and consists of ground scented woods kneaded with oils and moisture, is better kept in a ceramic Kôgo Ro.
